Bevin Court is located on the site of where Lenin lived in 1902, when he was in exile, hiding from the Tsar’s secret police.
In 1941 Lenin was commemorated on the site with a memorial designed by architect Berthold Lubetkin.
This filmclip shows the memorial being unveiled.
Lubetkin was born in 1901 in Tblisi in the then Russian Empire. He was 16 at the time of the revolution and was heavily influenced by the explosion of creative activity that followed 1917. This silent science fiction movie shows the constructivist influences that shaped Lubetkin’s work.
